The curriculum is 300 hours. It is an open enrollment program. Each student is allowed to attend the program based on their own schedule. The unique feature of MSPG is that it is also a full time grooming salon. This enables the students to have constant hands-on training with all breeds of dogs and cats in a grooming salon atmosphere. On the average there is a six student to one instructor ratio.
Topics include:
Safety handling dogs and cats
Appropriate shampoos and conditioners for different coat textures
Recognizing skin conditions and parasites
Bathing techniques
Brushing and dematting
Clipping nails
Ear cleaning
Shaving paw pads
Scissoring
Hand stripping
Extensive demonstrations
Recognizing various breeds of dogs and cats and the American Kennel Club breed groups
Equipment
Each student receives a starter kit that consists of clippers, two blades, two combs, two shears, (straight and curved), a slicker brush and an all breed text book.
Hours
MSPG is open Monday through Saturday from 100:00am to 4:00pm. In addition there are evening classes on Monday and Tuesday from 6:00pm to 10:00pm. Hours are flexible to meet your needs.
Student Services
Upon successful completion of the program, the school will assist each graduate with job placement. To date, the success rate of job placement for the students is 100%.
